Razorback Star Wehiwa Aloy Wins 2025 Golden Spikes Award

Big news for our Razorbacks, Wehiwa Aloy, the standout shortstop for the University of Arkansas, has just been named the 2025 Golden Spikes Award winner. That’s right—he’s officially the top amateur baseball player in the entire nation! This award, given by USA Baseball, is like the Heisman Trophy of college baseball, and it’s a huge deal for Aloy, the Razorbacks, and all of us here in Northwest Arkansas.

Aloy had an incredible season, leading the Hogs in just about every major category—home runs, hits, you name it. He was a force on the field, and his talent helped carry the team all the way to the College World Series. So, lets give a big “Woo Pig Sooie” to Aloy and the Razorbacks!

What’s Good in Our Backyard 🏠

Model Train Show Rolls in for a Good Cause

Train lovers, rejoice! The 22nd Annual Great NWA Model Train and Collectables Show hit the Benton County Fairgrounds on June 21, 2025. Not only did we get to see some amazing displays, but it raised money for local charities too. That’s what I call a win-win for our community!

NWA Celebrates Juneteenth with Heart and Soul

Our community came together on June 19, 2025, to celebrate Juneteenth with events all over NWA. In Fayetteville, folks marched from North Willow Avenue down to Walker Park and ended with a big cookout. It was a beautiful day of unity—felt like one big family reunion. If you missed it, you missed something special!

Red Cross Shines a Light on Our Local Heroes

Shoutout to our local heroes! On June 20, 2025, the Red Cross honored our amazing volunteers who are always there when the going gets tough—think storms, floods, you name it. These folks are the backbone of NWA, and I’m so grateful for them.

TJ's Sandwich Shop – Fayetteville

For this week's Featured Spot, we're shining the spotlight on TJ's Sandwich Shop in Fayetteville. Located at 908 E Rolling Hills Dr, TJ's is the brainchild of Chef Todd, a culinary veteran with over 30 years of experience in Northwest Arkansas. Specializing in hot, delicious sandwiches, homemade soups, and salads, TJ's is a must-visit for any food lover in the area.

Our favorite from the menu is the TJ’s Cheesesteak. Of course, the cheesesteak is just the beginning. TJ's menu boasts a wide variety of sandwiches, from the popular Caveman Club to the Gobbler Steamer. And don't forget to pair your meal with one of their homemade soups or salads. If you have a sweet tooth, be sure to save room for a scoop of Hugs Ice Cream, made right in-house.

For those on the go, TJ's offers a convenient drive-thru option, so you can enjoy their delicious fare without ever leaving your car. And if you're planning to eat inside, their local inside dining provides a great local Fayetteville vibe.
