Community Urged to Donate Blood as Supplies Dwindle
The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks issued an urgent call for blood donations on July 2, due to critically low supplies in Northwest Arkansas. With a particular need for O-negative, A-negative, and O-positive blood types, the center encourages residents to step up and support local hospitals, especially during the summer when donations typically decline. This initiative reflects the community’s spirit of helping others in need.
U of A Graduates Earn Prestigious Fulbright Awards
Two recent graduates from the University of Arkansas, Abigail Bordelon and Isabella Sotlar, have been selected for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, as announced in late June. This prestigious award will allow them to spend the next academic year abroad, engaging in research and cultural exchange. Their achievement highlights the academic excellence and global engagement fostered at the U of A, bringing pride to the Northwest Arkansas community.
Local Newspaper Wins Top Journalism Honors
On June 28, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette was awarded General Excellence among the state's larger daily newspapers by the Arkansas Press Association. The newspaper secured 14 first-place citations, showcasing its commitment to high-quality journalism and community service. This recognition reinforces the vital role of local media in keeping Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, and Bentonville residents informed and connected.
