Hogs fans, this is it! The Arkansas Razorbacks (46-13) are hosting the defending national champs, Tennessee (46-17), in the NCAA Super Regional at Baum-Walker Stadium. What’s at stake this weekend? A trip to Omaha for the College World Series. With a 35-4 home record, we’ve got the edge—but Tennessee’s got the pedigree.

Escaped Prisoner Still at Large The big news everyone's still talking about: Former police chief Grant Hardin, dubbed the "Devil in the Ozarks," who escaped from prison two weeks ago by impersonating a corrections officer is still on the loose. There's a $25,000 reward out there, and law enforcement is focusing their search in the rugged Ozark terrain north of us. Stay vigilant, folks.

Madison County Honors WWII Heroes In a touching ceremony, Madison County celebrated its WWII veterans aged 100 and older. The event at the county courthouse featured heartfelt speeches and commemorative plaques for these American heroes.

Local Students Crushing It Rogers High's Class of 2025 had 598 graduates who were offered over $16.5 million in scholarships. Heritage High had 520 graduates with over $15 million offered. These kids are going places!

Fayetteville New Student Housing
A $97 million, 272-unit student housing project, Verve Fayetteville, is slated to open in August 2027 at 707 W. Treadwell St., addressing the University of Arkansas’s housing shortage.

With 845 beds in one- to four-bedroom apartments, the 532,300-square-foot development by Subtext and Kayne Anderson Real Estate will ease pressure from record-high enrollment, as 1,200 students were placed off-campus last fall. Meanwhile, other student housing projects face city council debates, with some denied due to zoning issues.

Rogers Council Trouble
Council member Hayes Minor, ex-police chief, was arrested June 1 for DWI and speeding. Out on bond, court’s July 7.

  • Fayetteville plans Woodland Junior High for 2027.
