Bentonville's A Street Promenade Lights Up Downtown

Sponsored by Local Mail Billboard

Bentonville is shining brighter than ever with the completion of the stunning A Street Promenade, a brick-lined pedestrian haven that's set to become the heartbeat of family fun and community gatherings! As part of the Quilt of Parks project, this quarter-mile walkway connects beloved spots like Lawrence Plaza, the city square, Town Branch Park, and Dave Peel Park, making it easier and safer for families to stroll, bike, and enjoy the vibrant downtown.

Funded largely by a generous Walton Family Foundation grant, the promenade enhances walkability, boosts local businesses, and invites everyone to linger for hours of joy. The grand opening on November 15 promises a day of yoga, street performers, live art, music, and hands-on activities—perfect for creating cherished memories. From Crystal Bridges Museum nearby to the mountain biking trails, this upgrade truly weaves our community's cultural gems together.

Culinary Stars Shine for a Cause

The Rogers community is savoring the flavors of unity at the fifth annual Top Chef NWA event, where Northwest Arkansas's finest chefs whipped up culinary masterpieces to benefit the beloved Rogers Public Library! Held at the Walmart Amp, this interactive extravaganza featured complex dishes, a raffle, and silent auction, drawing families and foodies for an evening of joy and generosity. Judges, including local anchors, highlighted the chefs' skills while supporting library programs that enrich our diverse Springdale and Rogers neighborhoods.

Razorback Innovators Harvest National Honors

Over in Fayetteville, the University of Arkansas campus is excited as soil scientist Amanda Ashworth and fruit breeder Margaret Worthington snag the prestigious Presidential Early Career Award for their trailblazing work in sustainable agriculture. Ashworth's eco-smart tools and apps are helping farmers nurture the land, while Worthington's 43 new blackberry varieties are sweetening markets and boosting royalties. This top honor means more funding for future breakthroughs, putting NWA on the map for global food progress.

Berry Breakthroughs Boost Local Farms

At UA in Fayetteville, Margaret Worthington's celebrated blackberry program is yielding sweeter, tougher fruits that thrill markets and rake in royalties—nearly $1.5 million so far! Her genomics work fights diseases and amps up flavors, with fresh funding promising even more varieties. This agribusiness win lifts NWA's orchards, from Bella Vista's trails to Farmington's fields, fueling our Celebrate Arkansas economy with homegrown success.

Cookbook Chat Fuels Future Foodies

Bentonville's creative minds are teaming up for an evening with Ree Drummond and her daughter Paige at the Arend Arts Center on November 11, blending ranch tales, new recipes, and a lively Q&A. Thanks to partnerships with local libraries and schools, students in career programs get free signed books and tickets, sparking passions in culinary arts and entrepreneurship. This event underscores our region's nurturing vibe for young innovators, perfect for families dreaming big in our Walmart-rooted business landscape.
